The project brings children together with professional artists in an interdisciplinary production that includes storytelling, music, dance, origami and video. The story, written by Susanne Felicitas Wolf, is inspired by the folklore of Upper Austria, especially the salt mines and ice caves. Composer and director Ruben Zahra’s vision adopts paper as the main material for costumes, props and set design through the use of origami and pop-up paper sculptures. The contemporary aesthetic of the mise-en-scene is also reflected in Silke Grabinger’s choreography.
