Couperin’s Messe propre pour les couvents is a jewel. It is also one of the few not to cite a specific Gregorian chant; so many other mass, corresponding in mode and style, can be chosen for the alternating entries. Like other organ masses, Couperin’s places considerable demands on the instrument. A suitable instrument must be chosen, which can be difficult if not impossible in some venues. The organ at the Jesuit Church in Brno fulfils the requirements, thus suggesting the site for the performance of the joint project proposed by the Tirbutina Ensemble and the organist, Eva Bublová.
